JR Tucker PTSO 2024-2025‎ Year in Review

Our PTSO had an incredibly successful year thanks to the unwavering support of our amazing Tucker parents. Many of you generously donated items when requested and/or volunteered your time. We could not have done it without you! Here is a summary of what you helped make happen through our PTSO:

· Not one, but two, wildly popular Bingo Nights during the school year. Special thanks to Tucker Alumni Parent & Emcee Extraordinaire Heather Oberle!

· A College Funding Workshop for over 100 parents in March. Thank you to Allegra Simmons for setting up this new event!

· Our Party All Night after prom event at SkateNation. About 200 students enjoyed free ice skating, laser tag, plentiful food and gift card prizes! Special thanks to PAN Chair Rita Cotton and the team of volunteers and donors for their efforts to make our prom night a fun and safe one.

· PTSO scholarships, Lowerre grants and a DuVal scholarship to 6 graduating seniors. Special thanks to our Committee of former and current officers and the DuVal family for their generous funding!

· Treats to make our faculty and staff feel appreciated throughout the year. These included a Welcome Back Breakfast in August, Conference Night Dinner in November, Bagel & Coffee Breakfasts in December & March, and daily treats during Teacher Appreciation Week in May:
o Melt-in-Your-Mouth Monday: Donuts & Coffee in the office workroom donated by parents, Country Style Donuts & Starbucks.
o Tuesday Treats: Snacks and drinks donated by parents in the teacher work centers in each hall
o Wonderful Wednesday: PTSO-hosted lunch featuring Wegmans subs, partially donated by Wegman’s.
o Thankful-for-You Thursday: PTSO-provided ice cream treats
o Fabulous Friday: Administration-provided cookout
o Daily: Gift cards donated by parents awarded each morning on the announcements
o Special thanks to Hospitality Chair Dimple Dalawari, parent donors, volunteers and corporate donations from Country Style Donuts, Einstein’s Bagels, Starbucks, and Wegmans!

· Teacher grants to Ms. Lee to assist with continuing education tuition, Ms. Lund to support LifeReady25 participation and Mr Strusky to stock the Pathways Pantry.

· School spirit wear for sale both online and at events so we can show our Tucker pride! Thank you to Den Chair Julie Higgins and all who have volunteered to help.

· Coordination of parent donations and volunteering through online sign ups. Thank you to Chair Kim Imajo!

· Student support by maintaining a closet of donated clothing and other items. Special thanks to our Chairs Keith Sawyer and Kitty Sherman!

· An up-to-date website and social media accounts to keep us all in the loop. Special thanks to our Webmaster/Social Media Chair Alison Brown!

· Daily opening of our after school snack store daily during the school year. Thank you to our Chairs Julie Higgins and Cary Bero and our team of our faithful Shack volunteers!

· Volunteer services at the Fall and Spring Craftsmen’s Classic Shows as well as the Benson Boone Concert. In return, organizers made a donation to our PTSO. Thank you to this year’s Craftsmen’s Classic Chair Fran Swailes!

· Support for our ACA, IB and Immersion centers by including them in our PTSO budget, allowing them to more easily raise funds for center events like tailgates, breakfasts and more. Thank you to Treasurer Andrew Foster for all of his coordination efforts!

· Honors for our 5 graduating parents who have contributed so much to our PTSO: Rita Cotton (who will be back!), Kim Imajo, Azucena Sandoval, Jillian Sherman and Fran Swailes!

· Recognition of our Volunteer of the Year, Julie Higgins, who devoted so much of her time to our Shack & Den, and most recently served as this year’s VP-Ways & Means.

· Election of our 2025-26 officers: President Curtis Duncan, VP Ways & Means Cary Bero, Treasurer Hanna Turner, Secretary Kristen Vithoulkas, VP Membership Alison Brown, & VP Programs Allegra Simmons. Thank you in advance for your service, and special thanks to the Nominating Committee!

We look forward to the 2025-26 school year and hope that you will consider joining our awesome team of parent volunteers. If you are interested in learning more, please come to our first meeting and potluck dinner on Monday, August 4 from 6-8 pm in the Community Room. Thank you to all for your continued support!

With gratitude,
Kristen Vithoulkas
