The PTSO has two different ways to financially recognize our outstanding graduating seniors, the JR Tucker High School PTSO Scholarship and the Lowerre Grant. The DuVal Scholarship is also awarded to a PTSO Student Rep.
Scholarship and grant recipients are announced ahead of time but the award ceremony takes place at the PTSO’s last meeting in May.

The JR Tucker High School PTSO Scholarship
This scholarship of up to $500 will be awarded to graduating seniors who show good academic achievement as well as active involvement with the PTSO and the school community. This award will be paid directly to the college the awardee is attending. To be eligible, students need to have joined the PTSO by 10/31/2023 and a current member of the graduating class.

The Lowerre Grant
PTSO has established this grant to honor J.R. Tucker High School’s previous principal, Dr. Robert Lowerre. Dr. Lowerre served at Tucker from 2012 to 2017 and while at Tucker he focused on the students, what made them each unique, and how each student could succeed on their own path. He often reminded students in his announcements, “make it a great day or not, the choice is yours.” He had a goal to make sure each Tiger was enrolled, enlisted or employed upon graduation. To honor his legacy at Tucker and our unique and diverse student body, we budgeted to award up to 12 graduating seniors a $100 grant to get them started on their path to success. To be eligible for this award, students must be a member of the J.R. Tucker PTSO by October 31, 2023 and a current member of the senior class.
