Tiger families, the Tucker PTSO wants to make sure our school community is aware of the redistricting plans being considered by the Henrico County School Board. One proposal aims to reduce overcrowding at Tucker High School by reassigning some areas currently zoned for Tucker to Godwin or Hermitage High Schools instead.
From Henrico County Public Schools Redistricting page:
- “This scenario is designed to bring capacity relief to J.R. Tucker High School, which had a functional capacity of 104% during the 2024-25 school year.
- Through this boundary adjustment, J.R. Tucker High School would lose 299 students, putting it at 89.4% functional capacity. Hermitage High School would gain 280 students with a functional capacity of 98.3%. Mills Godwin High School would gain 19 students, making its functional capacity 87.5%. Functional capacity percentages are lowered daily at each high school based on student participation in off-site ACE Center programs.
- Impacted neighborhoods: Bonnie Brae, Glenside Woods, Wistar Place, West Chase Townhomes and Crossings at Short Pump.”

The PTSO encourages everyone in our school community to review the proposal and maps at https://www.henricoschools.us/page/redistricting-2025 (scroll down to “High School Scenarios” -> J.R. Tucker High School -> Click the “+” to expand), and then to ask questions and/or provide feedback to the Board through any of the following avenues:
